Mew's Tears

I have a bunny friend in the States, who like me, is disabled.  She has one rabbit and 3 cats.  The last cat she found underneath her house.  It's little more than a kitten and has had to have work done on it at the vets, as well as being neutered, and has an 'alien' which we're not sure whether will need work doing in the future or not.  She is making jewellery - named Mew's Tears - to help to pay for the vet work done and upcoming.  This is the link to her site: http://stealthbunnyoddities.tripod.com/ .  I've bought 2 pairs which arrived this morning and, especially for the price, are much better quality than I expected, and are absolutely beautiful.  If I knew how to post a photo of them I would, but I don't so...

Go on have a look at them.  It's all going to a good cause.

These riots are a bit... well I'm not really sure how I feel.  In one way I can understand how disenfranchised these people feel, but they are harming their own - that I can't understand.  Neighbours have been affected - jobs lost, homes lost.  Looting from small one/two person shops or local owners only damages their own community.  Sainsbury's, Tesco, Ladbrokes are impersonal - banks are behind a lot of the problems, so maybe. They don't burn down police stations.

In other news I've lost half a kilo over the last 3 weeks, not much, but it's on the right side.  Blood glucose is still okay and I'll get my results from the doctor next Monday at 9am, bright and early (well maybe not so bright!)

Past the First Post

I'm a disabled - mobility impaired - woman in my 50s.  I've been overweight all my life and have type 2 diabetes, which I have found I can control with low carb.  I don't miss bread, potatoes etc., but I do miss fruit.

I've read Gary Taubes. Barry Groves, Atkins and sundry blogs to give me information of low carbing.  In the last 6 months I've lost 12 kilos, with another 30 or so to go, but the weight loss has stopped.  I'm worried that this could be to do with the information I've read and would like to get some views on how to low carb healthily.  My main worry is that the references given seem to be 20 - 40 years old, surely they could quote some newer stuff - if they were right.
